Eighteen eggs is a deliberate size. It is small enough to candle carefully and brood without a large setup, and large enough that a 60% hatch still gives you a real group of chicks. If you are replacing an entire laying flock each spring, go bigger.

The unit disassembles for cleaning, which matters more than it sounds: an incubator should be cleaned between every hatch, and one that fights you gets cleaned less often.

What is lockdown, and does this unit handle it?
Lockdown is the last three days, when turning stops, humidity rises to 65–70% and the lid stays closed. This unit stops turning on its own; you still raise the humidity and keep the lid shut.

Forced air or still air?
Forced air. A fan circulates warm air so every egg sits at the same temperature, and you set 99.5 °F. Still-air units layer heat and need 101–102 °F measured at the top of the eggs. Forced air is more forgiving for a first hatch.

Can I hatch goose eggs in it?
Yes, six to eight, using the larger-cell tray. Goose eggs run 28 to 32 days rather than 21, so your lockdown comes much later.

How often should I clean it?
After every hatch, without exception. Shell fragments and membrane residue are what turns a good machine into a bad hatch rate two seasons later.

Unplug the incubator and let it cool before cleaning. Wipe the shell and the clear dome with a soft cloth and warm water with a little mild soap, then dry completely. Never submerge the base, and keep water away from the heating element and the fan.

Clean the tray and the water channels after every hatch. Shell fragments and membrane left behind are what cause bacterial problems in the next batch. Let every part dry fully before you store the unit.

Every incubator is covered against manufacturing defects for 3 years from the delivery date. If the thermostat, the fan or the turner motor fails within that period, contact us with your order number and we will repair or replace the unit at our cost.

The warranty does not cover damage from drops, liquid inside the base, or use outside the stated temperature range.
