Order with the calendar in mind. Chicken eggs take 21 days from the moment they go in, and the hatch does not move for a school holiday. Count backwards from the date you want chicks and add a week of margin for shipping and a 24-hour empty run.

Will it plug into a standard US classroom outlet?
Yes. This unit ships 110V with a standard North American plug. We do not stock 220V versions.

What temperature do I set for a classroom hatch?
Set 99.5 °F. Run the unit empty for 24 hours before the eggs go in and confirm it holds — that single step prevents most failed first hatches, and it is worth doing the week before the lesson starts.

How many eggs should a class start with?
All ten. A larger batch means a hatch that is still going when the bell rings, and it absorbs the eggs that turn out infertile at candling on day 7.

What happens on day 18?
Turning stops, humidity goes up to 65–70%, and the lid stays shut until the chicks are dry. That is the part to explain to the class in advance, because the temptation to open it is strongest exactly when it does the most damage.

Unplug the incubator and let it cool before cleaning. Wipe the shell and the clear dome with a soft cloth and warm water with a little mild soap, then dry completely. Never submerge the base, and keep water away from the heating element and the fan.

Clean the tray and the water channels after every hatch. Shell fragments and membrane left behind are what cause bacterial problems in the next batch. Let every part dry fully before you store the unit.

Every incubator is covered against manufacturing defects for 3 years from the delivery date. If the thermostat, the fan or the turner motor fails within that period, contact us with your order number and we will repair or replace the unit at our cost.

The warranty does not cover damage from drops, liquid inside the base, or use outside the stated temperature range.
